“Mission Creek Festival is a 3-day music and literature festival that takes place every spring in downtown Iowa City, Iowa. The program champions independent-minded musicians and writers–some are well-known, some are underground, some are emerging, and all of them are singular.”

In 2022, I acted as the LD for touring performers who did not bring their own. Ioannis Alexakis and I were finally able to put our audio reactive lighting system to work. This featured the hanging self built LED tube lights and found globe lights, in addition to the rep plot.

He, or the active audio engineer, ran auxiliary lines to the interface and mixer that was sent to my laptop, where I ran a program observing frequencies and amplitude. My lighting console was then paired via intranet to the computer, from which I controlled the lights, adjusting color, intensity, and rate based on EQ, both mine and the audio engineers’.
